On January 22, 2024, Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng met with Dr. Rahul Gupta, Director of the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy. The two sides had a candid and in-depth exchange of views on China-U.S. counternarcotics cooperation.
Ambassador Xie pointed out that the two heads of state agreed at the San Francisco summit meeting to establish a working group on counternarcotics cooperation. The two sides need to follow the guidance of the important consensus reached between the two Presidents, respect each other, remove disturbances, uphold the rule of law and professionalism, advance cooperation in various fields of counternarcotics and carry out practical law enforcement cooperation, so as to contribute to the stable, healthy and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations. Dr. Gupta expressed readiness to earnestly implement the consensus between the two Presidents, enhance dialogue and communication, and promote progress in cooperation in counternarcotics and other areas.
