Xi Jinping Meets with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Akhmetov

  On Sep. 7, 2013, President Xi Jinping met with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Akhmetov in Astana.

  Xi Jinping stressed that China-Kazakhstan cooperation enjoys natural complementary advantages and a sound political foundation. Both sides have always adhered to the principles of equality, mutual benefit and win-win outcomes. Both sides should earnestly implement the medium-and-long-term plan for China-Kazakhstan economic and trade cooperation, enhance the scale and quality of trade and investment cooperation in an all-round manner, realize the expansion of China-Kazakhstan crude oil pipeline as planned, step up the construction of Line C of China-Central Asia natural gas pipeline. Meanwhile to strengthen cooperation in non-resource fields, to promote people-to-people and cultural exchanges. I believe bilateral cooperation enjoys broad prospects and will surely better benefit both peoples.

  Akhmetov expressed that China's economy has maintained a sound growth momentum. It has offered more opportunities for bilateral cooperation. President Xi Jinping's current visit is with fruitful results. The two heads of state have set the new goals and key fields for cooperation. Both sides have signed a series of cooperation agreements. The Kazakh government will actively implement them, strive to promote cooperation in the fields of energy, investment, connectivity and agriculture, and move towards the goal of 40 billion US dollars for the 2015 bilateral trade volume set by the two heads of state.

  Wang Huning, Li Zhanshu, Yang Jiechi and others were present at the meeting.
