On July 29, 2026, the Chinese Embassy in the United States held the “Celebrating Chinese Festivals Together – Major Heat Party” Open House Event in partnership with the local Embassy Experience Association. Around 150 guests from all walks of life across the United States attended the event.

Diplomats of the Embassy presented guests with a vivid introduction to the farming origins, folk traditions and summer health culture of Major Heat, one of China’s 24 solar terms. They briefed guests on China’s policies to facilitate cross-border personnel exchanges, and invited American friends to travel to China and experience its local customs and landscapes, so as to see an authentic, multi-dimensional, vibrant and welcoming China in the new era.

Guests enjoyed performances of traditional Chinese folk music and classical dance. They learned to make Chinese cold noodles and summer desserts, tried on Hanfu, practiced Chinese calligraphy, crafted herbal sachets and braided traditional cords, and experienced a variety of Chinese intangible cultural heritage activities, sharing the unique charm of this traditional Chinese solar term.
