On June 30, 2026, Minister Tang Zhiwen attended the Launch Ceremony and New York Forum of the third season of “Our Water: Flowing from Shanghai - Intercultural Dialogues among World Cities” and delivered remarks.

Minister Tang noted that the Presidents of China and the United States held a historic and landmark summit in Beijing in May, providing strategic guidance for China-U.S. relations and bringing new opportunities for exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in various fields. Under the new circumstances, all sectors of China and the United States need to strengthen communication and exchanges, deeply tap into the potential for cooperation, and play an active role in promoting the stable, sound, and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations. Minister Tang expressed his hope that Shanghai and New York, as benchmarks for sub-national cooperation between China and the United States, would make new contributions to building a constructive relationship of strategic stability between the two countries and to fostering friendship between the two peoples.

The event was held in New York. Michael Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg L.P. and Bloomberg Philanthropies, and Chen Yiqun, Director General of the Information Office of Shanghai Municipality, attended and delivered remarks. Ma Xiaoxiao, Deputy Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in New York, and more than 200 representatives from various sectors of China and the United States attended the event.
