Chinese Embassy Holds Workshop for Young Diplomats and the Students of Georgetown University

On April 16, 2026, the Chinese Embassy in the United States hosted a workshop for young diplomats and students from Georgetown University. Nearly 40 graduate students from 13 countries attended the event. Minister Tang Zhiwen of the Embassy attended and delivered remarks, while Minister Counselor Shen Xuesong overseeing educational affairs, presided over the workshop.



Minister Tang stated that this year marks the beginning of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, during which China will continue to provide stability, confidence, and momentum to the world through its high-quality development. China firmly pursues an independent foreign policy of peace and upholds international rule of law, fairness and justice. China and the United States should adhere to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, respond to the aspirations of the people, and demonstrate responsibility as major countries. Young people around the world are warmly invited to visit and experience firsthand a real, multi-dimensional, and comprehensive China.

Young diplomats from the Embassy engaged with the students on a wide range of topics including bilateral relations, security, trade, energy, technology, and China‘s role in the world. The event was marked by a lively atmosphere.
