On February 21, 2026, the Chinese Embassy in the United States, in cooperation with the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art, hosted a “Happy Chinese New Year” cultural event, featuring wonderful performances, folk exhibitions, intangible cultural heritage demonstrations and hands-on activities that attracted nearly ten thousand American visitors.

The Chinese New Year cultural booth, with its display of lanterns, paper-cuttings, New Year picture rubbings, auspicious horse dolls and Pop Mart Year of the Horse blind boxes, filled the museum with a strong festive atmosphere and enabled American visitors to experience the“Chinese way of life” and feel the joy and warmth of the Chinese New Year. Artists from the Jiangsu Chinese Painting Society created calligraphy and paintings on site, presenting “Fu” characters imbued with good wishes to the audience. Air China integrated Chinese New Year culture with its airline services and carried out a “Hello, China” tourism promotion to encourage travel to China. Performances by the Art Troupe of the High School Affiliated to Renmin University of China (RDFZ), including chamber music, chorus, martial arts, aerobics and hip-hop, drew enthusiastic applause from the audience and brought the event to a climax.
“Happy Chinese New Year” is a Spring Festival celebration jointly organized by the Chinese Embassy in the United States and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Asian Art. During the Spring Festival, the Chinese Embassy in the United States will also work with other American cultural institutions to host a series of celebrations.
