On November 12th, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in the United States hosted a thematic discussion with NAFSA. Dr. Fanta Aw, CEO of NAFSA and the staff team participated in the discussion. Qiu Wenxing, Charge d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy, delivered remarks. Minister Counselor for education affairs Shen Xuesong attended.

CDA Qiu elaborated on the China’s 15th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development and the consensus by the heads of China and the U.S. reached at the meeting in Busan, referring to his insights on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, pointing out that China is building a better China, a better world and a better Communist Party of China. CDA Qiu encouraged U.S. education partners to pay more visit to China and encourage more American students to join the “50,000 in 5 Years” Initiative actively, so as to strengthen the tie of China-U.S. people-to-people exchanges and make contributions to the efforts in finding the right path for China and the United States to get along in the new era.
Diplomats of the Chinese Embassy introduced China-U.S. education exchange, economic and trade cooperation, China’s practice in global governance, achievements of science and technology innovation, infrastructure construction and cultural development, and engaged in depth discussion with the NAFSA delegation.
