Chinese Embassy won an award in the “2025 Embassy Chef Challenge”

On July 10, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in the United States participated in the "2025 Embassy Chef Challenge" held at the Andrew Mellon Auditorium in Washington D.C. and won the second place in the Judges' Choice category. Over a thousand local residents attended the event.



At the peak of summer, the culinary team of the Chinese Embassy skillfully prepared refreshing delicacies, featuring the iconic flavors of Guangdong cuisine. Their signature dish—crispy outside and tender inside, Pineapple Sweet and Sour Shrimp—was served alongside the refreshing and sweet ‌Osmanthus-Scented Lotus Root Threads Cake and the chilled, smooth Coconut Milk Sago, winning unanimous praise from the judges.

Amidst melodious tunes of the pipa, food enthusiasts savored rich Chinese baijiu and refreshing Chinese tea while exchanging insights about regional Chinese flavors with the culinary exhibition board as the backdrop.

The competition, hosted by the renowned local cultural organization Events DC, featured chefs from more than 30 embassies in the U.S. and was extensively covered by local media.
