On April 19, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in the United States held a celebration in honor of the International Chinese Language Day. Minister Jing Quan delivered remarks at the event. Minister Counselor for education affairs Shen Xuesong, President of the Association of Chinese Language Schools in the U.S. Xia Ming, experts from the Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, students and their parents from primary and secondary schools around DC area, representatives from all walks of life in the U.S. attended the event.

Minister Jing Quan said that Chinese language is a gift for inheriting civilization, inspiring wisdom and building friendship, and learning Chinese well is the only way to better experience the infinite charm of Chinese culture. Ancient Chinese wisdom such as “Do not impose on others what you yourself do not desire” and “A gentleman gets along with others, while does not necessarily agree with them” are fully embodied in China's solutions to address global challenges and to inject certainty into a world where changes and turbulence are intertwined. As the relationship between China and the U.S. has reached a new and important juncture, the two countries especially need to strengthen cultural and educational exchanges to enhance understanding and mutual trust. Jing expressed his hope for the participants to teach and learn Chinese well, understand Chinese culture, and welcomed more American young people to participate in the “50,000 in 5 Years” initiative, visit China, make Chinese friends, and form the right perception of China.

President Xia Ming noted that the Chinese language has helped the development of multiculturalism in the United States and is a power source for the future progress of the United States. Chinese language schools in the U.S. will continue to do a good job in teaching Chinese, and continue to sow the seeds of understanding and promote friendship between the two countries. Guests attended health lectures on Baduanjin, watched American students performing Chinese folk instruments and dances, experienced the Chinese medicine cultural program and praised the traditional Chinese culture.
