On March 12, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in the United States hosted a reception in honor of “2025 Congressional International Women's Day Celebration” run by the American Multi Ethnic Commission (AMEC). Minister Qiu Wenxing gave remarks at the event. Present were over 50 distinguished guests, including Congressman Jonathan Jackson and “Top 20 Global Women of Excellence” recognized by AMEC.

In his remarks, Minister Qiu extended congratulations to the awardees, shared the remarkable achievements and contributions of Chinese women like Zhang Guimei, and highlighted China’s accomplishments in protecting and advancing women’s development. Minister Qiu emphasized that the China-U.S. relationship is currently at a critical juncture. Both countries should draw inspiration from the outstanding characteristics of women, so as to establish the right way to get along with each other, featuring mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation. First, recognizing each other’s beauty and brilliance, treating each other as partners and opportunities instead of adversaries or threats. Second, addressing challenges through dialogue and negotiation, rather than doubling down on playing tough. Third, embracing the spirit of strengthening family unity, working together for global peace, stability and development, instead of sowing division and creating confrontational blocs.

Congressman Jackson provided an overview of the American civil rights movement and the evolution of women’s rights, expressing his hope that U.S. and China would increase communication and properly handle differences. The female representatives shared their personal growth journeys and life insights, recalled their positive interactions with China and memorable visiting experiences, appreciated China’s significant strides in advancing women’s causes and called for greater support for women’s development worldwide. Additionally, guests took part in Chinese cultural activities, including tea ceremony and calligraphy.
