On February 7, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in the United States held the “Golden Snake Welcomes Spring” Chinese New Year Garden Party in partnership with “Things to Do DC”. Minister Counselor Liu Pengyu, Spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy in the US, hosted the event. More than 250 guests from local communities attended the event.

Liu extended New Year greetings to the guests and pointed out that the Spring Festival is the oldest and most important traditional festival in China. It is a time for family reunion, to bid farewell to the past year and welcome the new one.

Liu said that with the successful application of the Spring Festival for World Intangible Cultural Heritage, "Chinese New Year" has truly upgraded to "World New Year", opening a window for the world to know more about China. This year, many foreigners have come to China to celebrate the Spring Festival. We hope to share this joy and happiness with more people. Welcome to visit China!

The guests were dressed in red and gold, enjoying the thousand-year-old legends presented through the classical dances of The Legend of the White Snake and A Tapestry of a Legendary Land. The Dance of the Golden Snake filled the air with the joy of the Spring Festival, while On the Other Side of the Water flowed with a gentle and melodious rhythm. Young martial artists from China and the U.S. demonstrated the Eastern philosophy of balance between hardness and softness through Shaolin Kung Fu.

The cultural experience area was also brimming with the warmth of the Spring Festival. Guests picked up brushes to write blessings, made dumplings and glutinous rice balls, created clay sculptures and paper cuts, tried on Hanfu, and learned the steps of the red silk dance, collectively experiencing the "flavor of the Chinese New Year."
