On February 8, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in the United States participated in the “District of Panda Party” held by the Smithsonian National Zoo to celebrate the official debut of the new pair of giant pandas “Baoli” and “Qingbao”. On the day of the event, thousands of American people braved the snow and came to visit “Baoli” and “Qingbao”.

In the indoor venues of the zoo, visitors immersed themselves in panda-related cutural experience at various booths featuring calligraphy, paper cutting, coloring, handicraft, nail painting, etc. They experienced writing the Chinese names of the two pandas, cutting out shapes of pandas, coloring the “Baoli” and “Qingbao” illustrations, creating panda-shaped paper plates, making panda-patterned nail painting, building panda-themed Lego, and tasting panda-inspired desserts prepared by the Embassy chef. They also visited the photo exhibition designed by ipanda showcasing the Smithsonian National Zoo giant panda family tree, and took photos with the giant panda mascots.
The event also included a trivia and a message-leaving part. Panda fans actively answered questions related to China-US giant panda conservation cooperation, left blessings for the new pair of giant pandas, and received giant panda dolls, books, China Travel leaflets, and “Baoli” and “Qingbao” limited-edition souvenirs.
Visitors were impressed by the diversity and creativity of the event, which further deepened their love for giant pandas and their understanding of China-US giant panda conservation cooperation.
