Chinese Government Scholarship Application (Academic Year 2026/2027)

In order to strengthen mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and people around the world and promote Chinas exchange and cooperation with other countries in various fields, the Chinese government sets up scholarships for talented students and scholars to pursue higher education or conduct research in Chinese universities.

The Chinese Embassy in the USA process Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS) application by US citizens, and key dates are listed for your reference. The applicant could apply for Degree seeking program at Bachelor, Master or Doctoral level, general scholar program or senior scholar program.

Q&A

Q: Am I eligible for CGS? What documents should be submitted?

A: Please refer to Application Guide for Chinese Government Scholarship.

Q: Is there any difference for AY2026/2027 application from previous applications?

A: Bachelor degree seeking program applicants is required to take the "China Scholastic Competency Assessment (short as CSCA)" and upload a valid score as application document (see the CSCA website www.csca.cn for more information).

Q: Whats the website of CGS application?

A: Please sign up and apply via Study in China homepage (http://www.campuschina.org).

Q: I am currently registered student in a Chinese university. May I apply for CGS via Chinese Embassy or Consulate General?

A: Please apply via your home Chinese university and ask them for more practical information.

Q: Should I be granted with CGS by this application, is the funding duration same as my study duration?

A: Grand under this application only covers the AY 2026/2027 funding. If your study plan of this application goes beyond AY 2026/2027, please turn to your host university for scholarship to cover the exceeded period.
