On April 23, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng met with Michael Miebach, Chief Executive Officer of Mastercard. The two sides exchanged views on China-U.S. financial cooperation and other topics.

Ambassador Xie pointed out that China’s 15th Five-Year Plan calls for steadily expanding institutional opening-up and widening market access and opening-up with a particular focus on the service sector. He encouraged Mastercard to continue to actively participate in China’s financial opening-up and China-U.S. financial cooperation.
