Wang Yi said that the Syrian crisis has lasted for nearly three years, China is deeply concerned about the severe humanitarian situation in Syria and sincerely hopes that the Syrian issue can be properly solved as soon as possible, ending the suffering of the people in Syria. Recently, the U.S. and Russia reached an agreement on Syria's chemical weapons issue, and the Syrian government joined the Chemical Weapons Convention, submitting the list of chemical weapons, and agreed to destroy chemical weapons. The UN Security Council has reached an agreement, providing clear political support for solving the issue.

China has always advocated solving the Syria issuen through political means and has made unremitting efforts. China urges to hold the Geneva II conference in the near future to support Lakhdar Brahimi's efforts in this regard.

Lakhdar Brahimi said that he appreciates China's strong support to his work, halling China's position and efforts in seeking political solutions to the Syrian issue.
