On March 26, 2022 local time, Nepali Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba met with visiting State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi at the Prime Minister's Office in Kathmandu.

Deuba extended congratulations on the successful Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. He said, the friendship between Nepal and China dates back to ancient times and is rooted in the two countries' long histories and cultures. Deuba thanked China for its long-term and robust support for Nepal's social and economic development, noting that China is a reliable good friend, good neighbor and good partner of Nepal. Nepal-China relations have maintained a sound development momentum, with all-round mutually beneficial cooperation bringing important benefits to the two peoples. Nepal will fully implement the important outcomes of President Xi Jinping's historic visit to Nepal in 2019, so as to achieve common development and prosperity.

Wang Yi said, China and Nepal have always supported, trusted and helped each other. The traditional friendship has been elevated during the joint fight against earthquakes and the COVID-19 pandemic, and mutually beneficial cooperation has witnessed continuous and effective progress. China-Nepal relations have become a good example of treating each other as equals and win-win cooperation between large and small countries, and a testament to China's practice of neighborhood policy of building amity and friendship. China will continue to firmly support Nepal in safeguarding its sovereignty and national dignity, exploring a development path suited to its national conditions, and pursuing independent domestic and foreign policies. Guided by the important consensus between the leaders of the two countries, China is ready to expand all-round cooperation and constantly push forward the China-Nepal strategic partnership of cooperation featuring ever-lasting friendship for development and prosperity.

Deuba stressed, Nepal will continue to firmly adhere to the one-China principle and never allow any forces to use Nepal's territory for any anti-China activities. Wang Yi appreciated this, pointing out that it is an integral part of the strategic partnership between the two countries. China will continue to stand firmly with Nepal on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, uphold the principle of non-interference in internal affairs and basic norms governing international relations, reject unilateralism, oppose power politics, and contribute to regional peace and stability.

Noting the great potential for cooperation between China and Nepal, the two sides believe that deepening bilateral practical cooperation not only meets the needs of both sides, but will also inject strong impetus into regional development and prosperity. Both sides agreed to make good use of bilateral dialogue and consultation mechanisms, well construct existing key cooperation projects and expand new areas of cooperation.

The two sides also exchanged views on strengthening multilateral coordination. Deuba said, Nepal supports and stands ready to take an active part in the Global Development Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping, and agrees that when it comes to international affairs, fairness and justice should be upheld and the UN Charter and international law should be abided by. Wang Yi said that China is ready to strengthen communication and coordination with the Nepali side to jointly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries.
