On July 18, 2024, the Chinese Embassy in the United States held a cultural event in partnership with “Things to Do DC”. Minister Jing Quan attended the event and delivered remarks. More than 100 guests from local communities were invited to experience traditional Chinese culture.

Minister Jing shared with the guests the richness and diversity of traditional Chinese culture. Noting that the 78th session of the UN General Assembly recently adopted a resolution proposed by China on establishing the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, he encouraged more people to join in advocating dialogue, exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations.

Minister Jing stressed that the Chinese and American people are both great people. We should be friends rather than enemies, enhance friendship rather than engage in confrontation, and firmly reject a “new Cold War”. He also briefed the guests on China’s 144-hour visa-free transit policy, welcoming them to visit China and see firsthand what a beautiful country China truly is.

Artists presented a cultural performance featuring Chinese folk music and the face-changing art. The guests tried on Hanfu, explored paper cutting, learned to write Chinese characters, and tasted delicacies from across China. The event left the guests deeply impressed by the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture.
