EMBASSY OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA TO OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS PART OF PASSPORT DC EVENT
Nationally Acclaimed Passport DC Returns with Around the World Embassy Tour on May 6, 2023

WASHINGTON (April 26, 2023)—Next Saturday, May 6, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China is to join over fifty embassies during Around the World Embassy Tour that begins at 10 a.m.


This year marks the 3rd time for the Embassy of China to participate in Passport DC. Themed “Yunnan: A Many-Splendored Life”, our open day this year features the Chinese southwestern province famous for its rich variety of folk arts, music, songs and dances of local ethnic populations.



Guests can expect a full experience of Chinese art and culture, a one-of-a-kind performance by the Yunnan Huadeng Opera Theatre, as well as interactive cultural activities including the intangible cultural heritage of ancient calligraphy and paper-cutting. Guests will be able to take Yunnan-style tourist photos with adorable panda mascots at the photo booth.




In the outdoor area, the Chinese food stand is a must-go, where you can enjoy some delicious bites prepared by the embassy chefs. The Stephanie Chou Quartet, the Washington Traditional Chinese Orchestra, the Chinatown Lion Dancers and the Greater Washington Drum Team will all be present at our outdoor stage to bring to the guests a full immersion of Chinese culture.




The outdoor grounds will be open at 10 a.m. and the embassy building at 10:30 a.m. Admission is free. A photo ID is required at the entrance. Guests are expected to kindly observe the security policy of the embassy.





Passport DC runs from May 1 to 31.It offers a galaxy of cultural activities presented at embassy open houses, street festivals, performing arts venues, museums and special receptions throughout the District. The Around the World Embassy Tour and Passport DC attract nearly 27,000 visitors each year and allow the diplomatic community to highlight the very best of their home countries.
