On May 9, 2024, Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng met with a delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham China). The two sides had an in-depth and constructive exchange of views on strengthening China-U.S. economic cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, and the development of American companies in China.

Ambassador Xie elaborated on China’s policy stance on China-U.S. relations and economic cooperation. He said that the important consensus reached by the two Presidents at the San Francisco summit has charted the course for the development of China-U.S. relations. We need to follow the three principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, value peace, prioritize stability and uphold credibility, so as to ensure the sound, stable and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.

Ambassador Xie briefed the delegation on the continued recovery and improvement of the Chinese economy, pointing out that China’s determination to expand high-standard opening-up is unswerving, that new quality productive forces are taking shape at a faster pace, and that Chinese modernization will provide historical opportunities for countries around the world, including the United States.

Ambassador Xie noted that the China-U.S. relationship still faces many challenges, and there remains a long way to go to stabilize and improve the relationship. It is hoped that friends from the business community will continue to serve as a bridge of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, and contribute their best efforts to stabilize and develop China-U.S. relations and deepen and expand exchanges and cooperation between the two countries, so as to help truly stabilize, improve, and move forward the bilateral relationship.

Founded in 1919, AmCham China provides consulting, information and business support services to American companies in China. Currently it has nearly 1,000 member companies.
